My custom name paintings are commissioned, hand painted pieces of work that include a child's name, a personalized "theme" and special details. Each one is unique. The process includes an initial consultation about what the customer would like to create followed by font and color selections, an initial pencil sketch of the design and the addition of color in parts. The customer is involved throughout the entire process to ensure the final painting is just right. The finished piece is a beautiful representation of the child's favorite things, capturing a slice of their childhood in a keepsake that can be treasured for years to come.
THE PROCESS:
1. Choosing a theme:
Having painted many custom name paintings over the last several years, I have found that is helps to start with a general theme as a backdrop from which to build upon. Sometimes the customer has a specific theme in mind (ie. bunnies in a garden) and other times they select from other works I have done as a general starting point.
2. Adding details:
After a theme is decided upon, you can send me a list of all the special details you'd like to include. For example, some customers decide to add their family dog or a favorite stuffed animal. Photos of specific items like this are always helpful. Please note that I do not paint people in my work.
3. Choosing a font and color scheme:
It's up to you to decide what kind of font you'd like for your child's name, a block print or a script. From here, a selection of fonts will be sent to you to choose from, shown in your child's name. Next, we can begin to choose colors that best suit the piece and fit with the theme and / or color scheme of the room where it will hang.
4. Sketching out the design:
Once all of the details are ironed out, I will draft an initial pencil sketch of the design for your approval. This sketch can be tweaked and added to up until the next step when I begin to paint.
5. Painting in parts:
Once the sketch is approved, I will begin painting the piece in parts and sending photos and updates as I go to ensure you're happy with each part of the painting until it's complete. You will still have the option to add in small details up until the very end.
6. The final product:
Once the piece is finished and approved by you, it is signed, wrapped in a clear cellophane sleeve and flat cardboard backing in a stay-flat mailer and shipped to you to frame, hang and enjoy!
PRICING:
Each custom painting size measures 11x14" and is hand painted in acrylic paint on 140lb cream white fine art watercolor paper.
The price for each painting is $350-500, depending on the amount of detail involved. A quote will be given at the start of the process.
Payment is requested at the end of the process once you are 100% satisfied with your painting. Payment is accepted via Venmo or Paypal.
